Smooch.

I loved this outfit, despite some people disliking the tights. Ah well! C'est la vie!

Shameful, shameless.

So I know it's been long time no blog! And it's not like I haven't bought new earrings or read my regular blogs, buttttt, you know. I'm shameful. School starts tomorrow and I'm going to recreate this look that I snapped a week ago, though I've since cut my hair so it's not quite true to life!

I don't know what it is about hoops, and it probably has to do with their versatility that they are always chic, simple and appropriate, but I've really been noticing them as a choice versus a more elaborate earring. Cameron Diaz's look in In Her Shoes always has hoops, and over at Decorno she listed her travel uniform and its accessories. I think they're comparable to pearls in that they can be a simple, yet effective accessory to an outfit.

These are the smallest hoops in a pack of three I got. The largest ones touch my shoulders, and are really only reserved for laughs. I don't car for small hoops, though. I'm silly like that.

Borrowed before bestowed.

So these are some of the earrings I got for my mom. I am kind of in love with them. But, alas, she needs more fabulous earrings!

Roses and pearls.

So I definitely ended up with a half-dozen more earrings in the past week. So much that I need to figure out another display system. I also picked up some for my mom that I might wear for a bit before passing them over. I always buy my mom earrings to replace the jewelry that was stolen the summer before my senior year in high school. I had some stolen, too, but I barely remember any of it. Ah well.

Yay family barbecue in a week!

Easy Virtue

I was transfixed by Jessica Biel's earrings in Easy Virtue, a film set after the first world war and about a newly married couple's comedic trials with the groom's family.

They looked like little jumping people. It made me happy.

Finishing those weekend projects.

Long time no update, I know, but I come with multiple earrings to make up for it! Or rather, a snapshot of my old earring display and the new system.

Originally I didn't have a million earrings, so these lace fans did the job just fine.

However, since I obtained, uh, many more, I made another display with tulle and a picture frame. I've just not gotten around to making the second sister frame into another display, to help the fans go into retirement.

I would do a close up shot, but I do want to save them for actual posts! However, being crafty for the fourth of July is patriotic enough, right?

Wingardium leviosa!

I am definitely in love with the brushed metals this site offers, though I still wouldn't pay more than a dollar for those dream catcher-style earrings.

Transcend the years.

+ Blue rose studs from Cara Lyndon.
+ Sunburst/nova drops from Stannard Inc.
+ Turquoise clip-ons (what a shame!) were an item up for auction.
+ Found item drops from Levita which will have its own image board soon.
+ Black curly-cues from a shady-looking site.

Blue roses.

Roommate got me some new earrings that I'm digging pretty hard. I love the blue and I love the stylization. I have a lot of rose earrings, but none like these!

I still need to photograph my earring display, but I need to make another one so it doesn't look so hectic as it does now. I am running out of room in my bathroom for all of the stuff I need to be in there.

Blast from the past.

So my grandmother gave me these earrings when I last saw her in November, and they are so 80s it hurts and I've never had anything to wear them with. They are a cream color that I didn't have in my wardrobe until yesterday, when I picked up this flowy top from Plato's Closet in a cream color. Voila! Something to wear these earrings with!

This is also my first post of my own earrings. Which I should do more often, since i own so many. But c'est la vie.

Ciao!

Details.

These earrings from Offerings really catch my attention because of the intricate detailing. I don't know how large these pieces are, but if they are on the larger scale, they would be magnificent ensemble-makers. Drama drama drama!

Whimsy.

Butler & Wilson have some pretty funky, chunky earrings and a lot of them are cute and whimsical. Here are some of my favorites:

Everyone's all a-titter.

Olsen fashion is a guilty pleasure of mine, but these are some pretty interesting earrings on Mary-Kate:

From the heavens.

LaughingScarab is an artist I originally followed on DeviantArt, but also lusted for through Etsy (lusted for his earrings, that is.) His style is very distinct and kind of rough, but in a way that pleases me. I have been dying for these Mana earrings for months now, but I am saving up for summer classes so I can't get them. :( Major sadness!

I imagine they're pretty heavy on the ears, but they're so, so cool.

Big girls don't cry.

So, for my first mini-installment before I run out the door to a theatre function (to the forum!), here is a very small sample of some teardrop earrings I wouldn't mind owning.

I own eight pairs of teardrop-shaped earrings. I realized I had quite a few the other day when I brought another pair home (black and white checkerboard!) I will get some of my earrings posted in the next couple of days, as well as showing just how I am currently storing my bazillion earrings.

What I like about the teardrop is it can be a cut-out type deal, a woven deal (like the dreamcatchers --btw, I bought some two-tones for a dollar at a local shop so I can't imagine paying ten for them), or a solid hunk of material colored or treated a certain way. The shape, to me, at least, seems very flattering and very dramatic. I am not a fan of chandelier earrings or just strands of chains --I feel they get lost in your hair unless you put it up, and that they lack volume that earrings can definitely bring to the table. I feel pretty good in any pair of my teardrops, so perhaps I'm biased!

Toodle-ooh, dears!
